Atlantic City or Las Vegas – Here We Come

Sunday 29 August 2010 | admin

I love to be entertained as much as the next fellow. And where better than the hotel-casino nerve-center of the world: Las Vegas, Nevada. As far back as I can remember the Las Vegas cowboy in bright lights was my icon of big fame and fortune. It represented the one place I simply had to visit. And that’s just the tip of this Vegas iceberg, because other major attractions in Las Vegas include the MGM Mirage, Caesars Las Vegas, Harrahs and Planet Hollywood, among others. Las Vegas has so much to offer its patrons that it’s not surprising the jobs market is alive with vacancies. For me it’s like a simple demand and supply function: as long as the tourists keep flocking to Las Vegas, the job opportunities are going to be coming in thick and fast.

What jobs can you expect from Las Vegas casinos?

If you’ll just humor me for a moment, I’m going to suggest that anything goes in Vegas. And I’m not kidding either. Think of all the typical hotel and casino jobs you can find all over the world. These cover the following categories: housekeeping, wait staff, bartenders, accountants, auditors, club attendants, housemen, reception staff, managers, chefs, cooks, casino managers, casino staff, security staff, cashiers, cage managers, lobby staff, attendants, admin assistants, pit clerks, A/V techs and hundreds more job categories and vacancies. The list of openings is literally so exhaustive that anyone with a desire to work will find his or her vocation in Las Vegas.

Luckily, such openings are readily available in Atlantic City casinos too – albeit on a smaller scale. If you go to the Trump Taj Mahal, the Showboat, Bally’s or even Harrah’s you’re bound to be presented with similar offerings. That’s the beauty of the gaming sphere. And don’t forget all the technicians that are required for the lighting, slot machines, video poker machines and maintenance of card tables. It’s a treasure trove of cash waiting to be earned by anyone hungry enough to work. According to New Jersey and Nevada state compensation charts, payment in the gaming sector is certainly competitive and there are more often than not sufficient hours to go around.

The perks from working at these stellar resorts are impressive. You’re going to be able to enjoy working in what is for all intents and purposes a palace. These massive resorts have the backing of multinational conglomerates and their sprawling square-footage is mind boggling. The exotic dancers, the actors and character that will sweep into these casinos will leave you dumbstruck. It’s an experience that simply has to be experienced in order to be enjoyed. The show certainly goes on in the world of casinos.
